Wanaka region is located in the spectacular Southern Alps - in New Zealand. It is filled with amazing land forms and beautiful lakes, the natural beauty and this experience of Wanaka will be an unforgettable one.
The day will start with an early morning pick up from your hotel and a drive towards Cardrona over the Crown Range. The route will include a stop for an amazing photo opportunity over-looking the Lake Wakatipu.
We will then continue through Wanaka and make a stop at the Blue pools river located in the north of Makarora. A short walk through the silver beach/tahina to a swing-bridge overlooking the pools at the entrance of the blue river is certainty worth exploring.
We then make a U turn and head to Wanaka, and visit the top attraction Puzzling World - The Wonderful World of Weirdness. For over forty-five years Puzzling World has been messing with people’s heads no matter what age, nationality or experience. With a mix of bizarre buildings, rooms of illusion and the world-famous Great Maze this attraction is designed to baffle your brain and challenge your perceptions of reality.
We then head off to enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake or chose to have sit down lunch at a local café or restaurant - don’t miss to take photos of the famous Wanaka tree.
After lunch, 2e will now visit the Wanaka lavender farm and experience 10 acres of lush lavender fields.
On the way back to Queenstown, there will be another photo stop at the historic Cardrona Hotel which was established in 1863. This hotel is one of New Zealand’s oldest, iconic hotels and one of the two remaining buildings from the Cardrona Valley Gold Rush era, its rich history makes it a must see while in Central Otago. Famous Cardrona Ale is a must try, it is brewed in its very own brewery.
